Pre-Press Information
In order to quickly and accurately print your large-format color graphics, we offer the following formatting tips and suggestions. To best expedite printing and minimize costs, we ask that you use these guidelines in setting up your files.
All files must be built to ACTUAL size at 100dpi.
Media
We accept Macintosh and PC files on:
- - E-mail or FTP/File upload (see below)
- - DVD
- - CD
Files may be e-mailed if under 4MB. If your file is larger, please use our upload site.
FTP
The Pixus FTP can be accessed by going to www.pixus.com and choosing File Uploads from the menu. Instructions are easy to follow and additional software is not required.
File Formats
In addition to accepting PDF’s, we have the ability to import and edit almost any EPS file.
- Adobe Illustrator: EPS with fonts outlined
- Adobe Photoshop: RGB TIFF or EPS
- Adobe InDesign: Package the document or export as EPS with the fonts outlined.
For all other programs, please contact Pixus.
Black
Instead of using the one-color default black, please set up a four-color process black consisting of 75% cyan, 75% magenta, 75% yellow and 100% black. This produces a rich solid black and improves black quality for large areas.
PMS colors
If PMS colors are critical, Pixus offers process color matches within 90-100% of specied colors. Pixus recommends hard proofs which can be produced for a nominal fee.
PDF file submission
To assure accurate and timely turnaround of your printed material, we suggest using the industry standard PDF file format.
All files must be created at 100dpi at actual size, or have the ability to be scaled. Make sure that all graphic elements and photos included in the file follow the same size/resolution standard.
The pdf must be saved as CMYK “Print Optimized” X-1A files, which flattens the layers.
Scaling
We prefer files set up at actual size, but if we must scale your file, please indicate scale in % and give final dimensions. Check the resolution of all photos at ACTUAL size before sending your files.
Fonts
When sending your Macintosh file, always include PRINTER and SCREEN fonts. When sending your PC file, we can use your .TTF, .TTI and .OTF fonts. We use Adobe Type 2 compatible fonts. Whenever possible, try to convert fonts to outline.
PROOFING INFORMATION
Proofs are available upon request. Electronic proong can be done using .JPG or PDF files sent via email or can be viewed on our public or secure proofing website.
- - You must request a website proof.
- - If you require a secure folder please let your salesman or designer know in advance.
